Counseling

Want change that will allow you to be successful, confident and excited about life? Through one-on-one and family counseling, I help clients identify their needs and ambitions, AND develop the confidence and skills to achieve them. Wounding experiences can leave behind painful scars that challenge how we view ourselves and others. Unattended to, these wounds not only alter our perspectives but can make it difficult for us to engage with certain people or situations. Allowing our fears and pain to take hold of so many aspects of our lives is not what we really want for ourselves, but sometimes seems like our only options. Find relief and transformation through counseling that involves movement, creativity, expression and is grounded in wisdom traditions as well as psychological and neuroscientific research.

APPROACH

I practice client-centered therapy that meets you where ever you are at. You know those terrifying thoughts and secrets you don't feel comfortable sharing with anyone else? We often hide these things because we feel like we're the only ones to experience them, or don't want to be associated as someone who does. Well those deep dark secrets are likely eating away at you and making it difficult to successfully engage certain aspects of your life! They also might be coming out in other ways possibly through your relationships, self-harming actions, and/or negative self-thoughts. Together I help you to explore those thoughts and feelings so that you don't have to look at them all on your own. You set the pace. I get to be a stable, calm and supportive guide in your process. Some methods we can use together are:

  • Mindfulness

  • Creative Expression

  • Neuropscyhology Education

  • Psychosynthesis

  • RCS (Re-Creation of the Self)

  • Somatic Awareness (body integration)

  • Transpersonal Psychology (Spiritual exploration)

Counseling vs Coaching?

Having trouble deciding whether you should do

therapeutic counseling versus parent coaching? Below are some distinctions that might help.

Parent Coaching

  • short term

  • focuses on techniques and solutions

  • teaches Positive Discipline concepts and tools

  • helps parents address challenges through brainstorming and problem solving

Counseling

  • can be longer term

  • focuses on addressing past experiences which can include the way you were parented

  • addresses deep-rooted patterns and potential changes needed in the family system

Still unsure? Call for a free 20 min. consultation and we can figure it out together! 831-920-3835

Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson didn't set out to explain why Positive Discipline (PD) is so effective, but that is ultimately the result of their book “The Whole-Brian Child”. Many of PD’s core concepts and approaches have worked with families already, but the science behind them gets further explained in how they ultimately promote brain integration.
