Parenting

Want to have a better relationship with your child and feel more confident in your parenting?  I help parents to understand and address the underlying beliefs behind their children's behavior, improve their verbal and non-verbal communication, and ultimately become more confident parents.

As a Positive Discipline Parent & Classroom Educator, I have been teaching  parenting classes since 2011 (and Positive Discipline for teachers and school staff since 2014). Positive Discipline offers a clear philosophy on how to guide young people in their development and how to foster effective parenting and teaching relationships based on mutual respect. From that orientation we identify tools and strategies, practice setting effective boundaries both kindly AND firmly, and teach children through our actions about accountability and problem solving.

Supporting Parents of Neurodivergent Kids

Do your neurodivergent kids have ongoing meltdowns or moments of aggression that feel confusing or overwhelming? Do traditional or even “gentle parenting” techniques seem ineffective with your child? Parenting  neurodivergent children often means navigating daily challenges that others may not see. Supporting parents through these specific challenges requires an understanding how children's nervous systems are affected by ADHD, autism, anxiety, sensory processing differences, and Pathological Demand Avoidance. Our neurodivergent kids require approaches that honor and address their unique needs, especially when it comes to their nervous system. By understanding how our neurodivergent children’s brains and bodies respond to stress, sensory input, and emotional overwhelm, we can parent in ways that create more safety and connection.
